It's Turning Into A Virtual World

I have been working with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and of course this blog and amazingly enough here comes another application to shake up the business world.

Online virtual worlds such as Second Life have a bad reputation in the business world, writes Rita J. King, but in the right hands they're more than just huge time sinks; they can be powerful engines of innovation. Companies like IBM, Northrop Grumman and Manpower are already using Second Life to hold virtual meetings and share complex data, effectively combining teleconferencing with powerful presentation software into a single free program. When meeting and sharing ideas is easy, efficient and free, employees are more likely to collaborate, writes King, making it just a matter of time before every company has a Second Life office.

Learn How The Discovery Channel Can Teach Leadership

The best TV show ever created about leadership and management starts a new season Tuesday night.

It's Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch. If you don't know DC, it follows several crab-fishing boats through the Bering Sea as their crews risk life and limb (literally) and work like mules (figuratively) so that you can have bisque.

I have never been a huge fan of the show but after reading this article I may just have to check it out. I have sold product to restaurants that came from this show thru the Crab Broker.

Twittering Leaders To Learn From

If you haven't at least heard of the social networking tool Twitter by now, you might want to crawl out from under the rock where you've been living and check it out. I have been using Twitter since September and find that I enjoy posting the little 140 character tidbits about what I am doing, the food service industry, sales and/or business related posts.

You can follow me at http://twitter.com/kwarrene

Here is an article on how some key business leaders are using Twitter.
